Hey guys, I'm on the verge of upgrading my system and I need to know if a high output alternator will be needed to power the new system. I understand that the stock alternator puts out approximately 100 amps which I think is good for about 1200 watts. Now I'm going to be running 0 gauge wiring so I'm pretty much already doing the "Big 3". For the system, I'm going to be powering 2 eD 13Ov.2's with a nine.1 pushing out 1200 rms (600 to each). I'm also going to be running eD 6500s in the front and will be powering them with a nine.2 at 150watts. I don't know if I'm suppose to add those up but it comes to a total of 1350 watts for the sound system alone. Mind you, I have to power HID headlights and my Kenwood DDX7015 also. So do I need a HO alternator? If so, what size and how much do they usually go for. I'll probably get a Yellow Top battery also.

See what fuse ratings are recommended for the amps, and go from there. I would recommend an alt capable of 130 amps or better. HID's will free up some amps from the alternator (if they're replacing factory halogens) because they only draw more current on start up, then run at around 35 watts as opposed to the typical 55 watts for most halogens.
