I have seen 96 monte carlos where the headunit sits flush with the surroundings, i was wondering if anybody knew how to do that and what adapter i would need to acheive this look, thank you.

most of the older GM vehicles do not allow that much depth in the dash but sometimes you can either cut or mold the air vents back and accomplish this look. depending on how much depth you are needing you can heat the plastic air vents that run behind the radio and push it in carefully until you can fit the radio back into the new mold. also, if you have left any of the plastic that helps support the delco radio you can cut that out or break it out with a pair of crimps or pliers.

Your local stereo shop, even AutoZone or Wal-Mart should carry the installation kit for your car.  The kit will come with different faces to give you different amounts of depth.  One should give you a flush look.

yea, i would recommend a stereo store though. if you get a kit from wal-mart or autozone it will be a multi-kit and those usually don't work very well. if you get a Metra kit then try to find the custom turbo kit rather than a 99-4544. i would try to get a 99-3300 if that one works on your vehicle. try to stay away from the AI (american international) dash kits too. some of them are very difficult to work with. Best Buy sells Metra, Scosche, and AI but i think we use the 99-3300 for that vehicle so try that or CC.
