I have an Alpine CDA-7837 deck installed in my 1989 honda civic sedan. It sporadically and regularily loses power and shuts down. After a period of time from a couple of seconds to minutes it will come back on. It is like someone is turning it off and on. I have removed the face plate and reattached, removed the entire deck and checked the wiring connections, and attempting to "wiggle" the wires to see if I can make it happen or stop it -- no consistent results. Is it possible that this is an internal problem with the unit itself? That is what I am now thinking but I hesitate to install a new unit if it is, indeed, a wiring issue.

Ideas/suggestions??

Thanks!

It's possible the unit is bad, but you need to check your speakers and wires first.  A blown speaker or shorted speaker wire could cause this problem.
