hey i got a new pioneer 800w amp with 2 10" kenwood subs.  i am going to use the stock radio on my 2000 tahoe, its not the limited its the new body style , i have an adjustable line output converter for that.  i was wondering if i have to bypass the original amp?  i read that in another post on here and was wondering if thats true, also does it interfer with the onstar at all?

thanks

john

No, you don't have to bypass the factory amp.  You can either connect RCA's directly to the headunit's outputs and run those to your amp, or you can use your line out after the factory amp.  If you use the loc, and you have a factory sub, you need to tap the sub wires, otherwise you can just use fronts or rears.  OnStar will still function the same.

The factory head unit has not RCA outputs so the LOC is essensial here. The main thing is depending on whether you connect the LOC to the deck side or the speaker side of the amp will determine how you set the LOC. On the deck side you will find that it needs to be set higher where as on the speakers side you are gonna need to trim those levels down a little bit.
