My choice among those amps would be JBL. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Check on those Quart speakers, if they say made in China on them instead of made in Germany, find new speakers as the made in China ones sound like arse by comparison to the good German models. If I am correct both the JBL and Infinity amps are going to be remarkably similar as both companies are owned by Harmon.

What would I do? 1) Disconnect all your factory speakers. Forget about using them. 2) Get some kick panels to house some high quality 6.5" components. 3) Buy a single high quality 10" subwoofer and small sealed box for the trunk. 4) Buy a 4-channel bridgable amplifier. Run the front two channels to the components, bridge the rear channels to the subwoofer. 5) Have all of the above professionally installed. 6) Buy a bridgable 4-channel amplifier with flexible crossover settings for the front and rear channels. 7) Use a high pass crossover on the front channels. 80hz is a good starting point. 8) Use a low pass crossover on the rear channels. 80hz is a good starting point. In my opinion this is the fastest and least expensive path to an excellent sound quality system. Here are some benefits of using a kick panel location: https://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-ev2voYpmUbT/learningcenter/car/speakers_imaging_soundstage.html Others include being able to use larger drivers that can handle more bass and bringing the speakers on axis. ------------- New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

I would use a high pass on the rears just the same as the fronts. The speakers aren't capable of sub bass freqs.

Right... low pass on the rear channels running the 10" subwoofer I recommend he use instead of the stock 8" drivers.

If I replace the two front seat sub, I'd replace them with Earthquake SWS-8" shallow mount 150W RMS https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AMI2HG/ref=sr_11_1/102-2217042-0908919?%5Fencoding=UTF8 According to JL, JBL and Infinity amp specs, JL is too wimpy for Earthquake SWS-8 150W RMS, and JBL/Infinity shoud be OK to drive it. However, JBL/Infinity don't have good SNR, THD, etc. compared to JL. What's your opinion?

Ahhh, I see now....thought that might have been a typo. ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

To drive a 150 watt continuous power handling sub....who's too wimpy??

JL Audio amp is too wimpy to drive 4 MB quart set + 2 Earthquake SWS-8, according to the spec: 45W RMS x 6 @ 4 ohm (12.5V); Earthquake SWS-8 is single coil 4-ohm. MB quart: 40 - 90 W RMS. For MB Quart, I think the amp is OK to drive those, but for Earthquake, I'm afraid it's too much for JL Audio e6450 - JL Audio 6 Ch 450 Watt Amplifier ?

Oh, you're talking about one amp to drive everything, and you didn't say subs, you said "to drive it". But nevertheless, any of those brands make amplifiers that will power whatever you have in store for them. It's a matter of using the right amp with the speaker in question. ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

It was --- gosh I didn't even notice. I listed buy an amplifier twice. I'm the one who should be using the icon. :-) Yeah, I recommend one 4 channel amplifier to drive components with the front channels and bridge the rear channels to one 10" subwoofer. ------------- New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

I think you'd be pretty happy following kfr01's advice. A nice set of components in kicks up front running off the front channels and a nice 10" or 12" subwoofer running off the rear channels of a good 4 channel amp.

The problem with 04' BMW 5-series is the trunk is so well insulated. I tried to installed Infinity Basslink 250W and I could barely get any bass with door and trunk closed. If I have to put 10" in the trunk, I need to make an 8-10in hold on the rear deck to make passage for low freq wave passing thru from the trunk.

Are you really set on the one amp thing? You could get a really good sound from 2 amplifiers.(one 2-channel,one 4-channel) If you are set on the one amp (which is cool cuz it saves room) then I would go with the Infinity 6-channel 560watt amp with your original idea.(the 2 8inch Earthquakes) I bet that car is gonna sound sweeeeeet when you get done! Its too bad my vehicle didn't come sound proof from factory, but then again it ain't no beamer!

I see. Well, my advice stands for the fronts. Forget about using all the 4" locations in your car. Get some good 6.5" components in the kicks. Then use the 8" BMW driver locations. ------------- New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

Look to see if you have a sheet metal knockout behind the rear seat. Many bimmers have this behind the fold down arm rest, and it's just tack welded in place. A lot of times you can just punch it out using no tools.
