I’ve just recently purchased a 93 Cavalier with a busted radio. The radio wasn’t factory and the previous owner didn’t spend the 15 bucks for a wiring harness. I’ve looked on this and many other sites and the wiring diagrams just don’t match up. All of the speaker wires are accounted for but I have left:
A thick orange wire
A thick black wire
A thin grey wire (thinner than the speaker wires)
A thin purple wire
And a thin black wire
If anyone knows anything about this configuration please help!

If you've got the speakers, then you're mostly done. Grab your multimeter, and check for constant and accessory power. Orange should be constant, yellow accessory(there should be more than one- one is used for speaker), and black should be ground. Test to be sure.
------------- My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

According to the diagram I should have a
I don’t have a pink wire or a 2nd yellow wire
Ok, this is what I have found out for sure:
Orange is + constant
Skinny Grey is + ignition
Big Black is –
After finding this out I had to step away so I haven’t tested the Purple and Black Skinny wires.
Perhaps the purple wire I have is the “pink” wire, which would make it the “antenna trigger”
Then by default the skinny black would be the “dimmer”
Ill try them tomorrow, but in theory it wouldn’t matter if I got the two mixed up.

I think on most chevy stuff they use purple for dimmer wires.

Ok purple must be he dimmer
And by default skinny black should be “antenna trigger” even though I don’t have a power antenna.
I’m going to test it out now.

Check this out. I test the purple wire with a multimeter and the digital odometer flashed ERROR and the service light came on as well as the security light. As far as I know the car doesn’t have any security features, definitely not a light. It all went back to normal after I shut the car off.

That's weird. I searched the internet and found this. It doesn't have all the wire colors you have, but maybe they are close. It looks like the gray might be the dimmer. https://paudio.tripod.com/gm-3.html
