Hello everyone, Sorry if I sound like a total idiot, but I am when it comes to car audio... I recently bought a used car from a dealership. it's a '95 ford mustang GT, with an aftermarket stereo cd player. The brand was "Dual".. It worked perfectly fine, but just yesterday I turned the stereo on with the car running. it had sound, but when I turned the car off with the cd player still running, it made this single little electric popping sound. when I went to turn it back on, power went to the player and all, but it would'nt have any sound. I don't see how turning the vehicle off could've damaged it, since it has a properly working accessory wire for the memory & all. I checked the fuse in the High Current power distribution box in the engine compartment that goes to the audio, which was fine. Also, on the fuse panel under the dash, there was a 15A fuse in the spot for the audio, but according to the factory fuse guide for the car, it's supposed to be a 10A, would that have anything to do with it not having any sound to the speakers?

So, all you have is the head unit and speakers, no amp? And all of the fuses are good?

Pretty much yeah, it's all stock except for the head unit, I plan on installing 2 12'' subs and an amp this year though. Yet I really don't feel like ripping out the entire sound system, just want to fix what's wrong with it for now

If the deck's turning on, pull it and try to pop the speakers. If you can't, you may have a factory amp that is not turning on. ------------- My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

When you pull the deck, disconnect unplug the stereo (you'll lose your settings when you do this) and use a battery to touch the speaker wires. They will be paired in four colors (white, grey, green, purple) with one wire a solid color, the other with a black stripe.
