Ok people, I am installing my system into a new car I just purchased. I've gotten to the part where I need to run the power wire from the batt to the amp. In my last install I simply ran the power wire through the door way near the windshield. I kind of didn't like the effects my door underwent from having the power wire ran through it. I'm looking for some input on drilling a hole and running it through the firewall, or any other path anyone has used to install their power wire that worked well. Thnx!

You should never run power wiring through a door jamb (which I'm sure you know now)- it's too easy for wire to get pinched and short to ground. Many times there's no need to drill a hole- you can find a factory grommet to use, or a rubber plug where there's nothing there. If you do decide to drill, use a center punch to mark the area, and check the other side to see where the mark is. You want to make sure you won't drill into anything- wiring, brake booster, etc. I always recommend a plastic snap grommet rather than a rubber grommet (which is more prone to fail). Also, use a step drill bit (uni-bit) to drill through the sheet metal.
