I'm installing a used Jensen RF-10DC 10 disc changer in a 1995 Ford F150, using the FM modulator and playing through the factory AM/FM/cassette radio(no cd controls).  When I get all the wires connected, I get only the backlight on the remote.  When I insert the cd cartridge with a mix of cd & cd-r I get disc numbers and 00 for track numbers and it cycles through up to disc 10 then resets back to the backlit screen.  At no time do I have any control of on/off/track/play/etc.  I have an extra remote, changer and cartridge but I get the same result with any combination.  My question is can a defective RF modulator cause this?  I wouldn't think so but I have zero info on this equipment.  It seems like the changer just can't read the cd's, but two with the same problem?  Any help, comments or ideas would be appreciated!

Some changers need to be reset when first powered up so you can try that.  Also since these are used the changers they just might not work.  The fm mod could be the problem but I don't think it would be.  It just sounds like the changer is not able to read the cds.  I would try and find a new cd or one in perfect condition and load only that one into the changer and see if it can recognize it ( don't use a cd-r or rw for this they are a lot less reflective than an audio cd).  Not to sound like I am talking down to you but make sure that cds are inserted into the cartridge the right way ( some changers require label up and some label down).

The raised printing on the cartridge says label side up, so I tried that first.  Then I tried it the other way just for grins.  No luck either way.  And these are a mix of cd's that all work in other cd players.  Sounds like I might have two bad changers.  I even tried one horizontal and one vertical.  Only thing I haven't tried is the reset.  Anybody know how I might do that with the RF-10DC?  Can I just disconnect / reconnect power?  Thanks for the suggestions and help.
