Does the Thickness of the wood make a difference in how loud it will be? Like 1" thick or 3/4" thick? And does it make your subs sound louder if you line the inside of the box with Insulation?

it doesnt affect volume, but be sure to build your box according to internal dimensions.  The thicker = the stronger.  If you put insulation or 'poly fil' in your box it will attempt to slow the sound waves and make your bass seem lower (Hz)

Actually.. It can affect SPL and frequency response if you do a bad job building your subwoofer box with bad wood.  Energy lost to the wood is energy you can't have back.  Use 3/4" MDF, at least.  Use braces.

Read:

The Loudspeaker Cookbook by Vance Dickason for the acoustic effects of stuffing.

Generally:

Heavily stuff small sealed boxes.

Line the walls of ported boxes, leaving room for unrestricted air flow from the drivers to the port, and leaving extra room around the port.

10 4 on that. Never use less than 3/4" for subwoofers. How many watts you running. I bet 3/4" will be fine, but if your doing something serious you might want to double up the face, or use 1" all around. posted_image good luck and have fun

Ofcourse not...it will not affect the sound quality at all...you will spend more money and will have a heavier box.

Go for the 3/4" ,it will do the work =0)!

Regards!
