Hey guys. We had an odd noise problem at work and I wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions to get rid of it.
Vehicle: brand new Scion TC
We installed an Eclipse head unit, Eclipse 4 channel amp, Focal components, JL sub amp and a JL sub. Customer comes in complaining about hearing popping sounds in the system when he adjusts his mirrors. It happens in all 4 speakers.
The noise is still there when I unplug the RCA's at the amp. Disconnecting the speaker wires and the noise is not heard in the disconnected speakers. Disconnecting the front speakers, the noise is still heard in the rear speakers, so it is not being induced into the front component crossovers. I removed the mirror switch and re-grouned it, but that didn't help. Disconnecting the ground wire and running one on the outside of the vehicle, strait to the battery didn't help. Neither did doing this with the power wire. We even disconnected the remote turn on just in case and that didn't help. And finally we turned off the head unit, turning the amp on with direct connection to power to no avail. So the customer purchased a new JL 4 channel amplifier, and the noise is still there. One thing we also noticed is that the mirror turn signal lights flicker when we play with the mirror switch.
So does anyone see something we missed?
So does anybody have any ideas?
Weird indeed. If running the ground wires outside the car didn't help, i'm thinking the problem should be close to the battery. Did u try to replace the battery or check the current path all the way from the battery to the mirrors ?
