Subject: Remote Wire for Crossover?

Im trying to install a crossover that I had in my last setup into my new setup (the current setup has been running for about 6 months now).

I have a pioneer 6700mp. I am using a small "DUB" edition amp to power a MB Quart (RCE216) component set in the front and Viper Audio amp (600.1 class D) amp to power two 10" he2's.

Im wanting to add in my 3-way MTX Crossover to give me a bit more fine tuning of the sound. This arises a few questions. First off, I am unsure whether or not to continue to branch off of the remote wire. I had everything, so far, installed by the local audio shop although I know how to do it. They ran one remote wire to the back to the component amp, and another wire from there to the subwoofer amp. Will the crossover pull that much more current that I will need to add a relay to get the crossover the right amount of "turn-on" power? Ive always heard crossover dont pull much power at all.

Also, they have one 4 guage to my 1.0 farad Punch capacitor, and have both power wires for each amp connected there and same for the grounds (ground to capacitor and amps grounded at capacitor). Again, would it be ok to follow suit and just connect the crossover grounds and power wires to their respective terminals on the capacitor?

And last but not least. On my previous setup, I developed a "bad side" in which one of my sides in the car would not play (was either left or right). I tried using one of the amps in my previous car (neither of the amps above) and the audio shop said that the amp was bad - although I was never able to verify that. They could have told me that to get me to be one of their amps. Regardless, if the crossover was bad (since it is the only thing retained from the previous setup), if it were bad, would it cause any of my new equipment to blow or go bad if it were bad?

I hope I havent asked too many questions on one post and that you guys for your help.

For the remote wire, relay it using a 40A relay, that should allow u to hood up a few more goodies to the remote wire. (just ask if u dont know how to relay it)

As for the power and ground for the xover, u could but i wouldnt just cause its not neat...if u dont have to many things on the relayed remote wire u could possibly hook up a jumper to go from the remote turn on to the power terminal (not too sure and would like to hear others opinions on that), then u can ground to the same point that the cap and/or amp is grounded at (try to have as few grounding points as possible).

It is possible that the bad amp could have damaged some equipment if it put a large amount of distortion through it or something, however it shouldnt be too much of a problem i would focus more on power ratings on the amp and equipment as well as where the gain setting was at which could have damaged something. If one side of the amp was bad u could have changed the wires over to see if the bad side changed sides. As for the crossover i think the only thing it could possibly damage is tweeters by not filtering the lower frequencies. Do u still have problems with sound?

The problem on the "sides" issue was strictly to the amp it was on. I had a small amp on the rear 6X9's and I guess one channel stopped working (the right side). There was never any distortion, just one speaker flat out didnt play.

Furthermore, is this a good type relay?

Ok I ordered the relay above. Now about the crossover - would you recommend a "test" of it first or should I just wire it up and see if it works?

crossovers are easy to put in and I have never seen a crossover cause another piece of equipment to fail simply by hooking it up in line so I would just hook it up and test it that way.
