When building a sub box, does the shape of the box matter. I want to build my box in the shape 12inches. high, 36 inches wide and 20 inches deep. The box is very wide and low in height.

Will the sound reproduction be good as long as i have got the cu/ft correct or does the shape of the box matter.

Thanx

be sure not to let the back panel of you enclosure lie parallel to the front baffle.  this can cause annoying box resonance.

Some manufacturers test their boxes alot and the give recommended dimensions to achieve the best results from them.  It might sound OK but not as good as it could.
