Now that i've switched to a 3-way setup i have one more problem to deal with. My Iridium 6.5'' mid-bass reproduces the low frequencies very bad and the lower-mids (100-300Hz) are too fade. I've read the manual and they say: 4-6 ltrs for kickpanel use and 12ltrs for home use. Can this be the cause of it's poor performance? I can't believe it can't do better than this after reading so many positive inputs on this driver. I'm estimating the volume of my front door (Golf V) to be around 30-40ltrs. What do u think ? Mr. Peter Flodqvist (DLS specialist)

As I was saying, Mr. Peter said the structure holding the woofer must be very rigid. Also, the woofer is pushing air through the sides and not the back as most speakers. This way, the air exiting from the woofer hits the MDF rings wich are very close to the holes of the woofer. As i perceive the sound it's like the woofer can't breath ! If no solution is to be found, i'm thinking on a future replacement of the Ir6 with Scan-Speak Revelator 7'' or something similar that requires more volume !

You may need to reduce the enclosure volume and try sound deadening the door with either dyna mat or spray on tar and see how you go but I'd try to get around the 125Hz mark if you can.

I already have 2 layers of deadening material ( Caliber > similar to Dynamat X-treme) and 1 layer of mineral wool. I will add a second layer (Dynamat) !
