Well we broke the 150 db mark at a show yesterday and though some people might want to check this out to understand just how loud a 150 is.    we were one of 6 car to make it over 150 out of 32 vehicles

Watch the back window flex like mad....We are using 2 12" L7's with 3200watts, power figured by AC current and AC voltage coming from the amp. Everything is located withen the trunk

Here is the link to the video of it

This is not our loudest vehicle to date, but if anyone has ran a trunk vehicle on a term lab, at a sactioned show I.E db Drag, USACi then they will know how hard it is to get to this point.

Thanks guys, hopefully we will have it up around 151-152db by the 18th on next month.   we have a few things to perfect

Our site has all of our teams current vehicles on it if you guys wanna check it out

Come on Jeff, me and my two flaming chrome Audiobahn Lightning round extra specials hit 189.3 at my local comp last week in my 1978 VW Bus. You clearly dont know what your doing, I could break 240 with gear like that :). For any newbie I AM KIDDING and for any vet, they know that this is the kinda bullshhh we hear every week in comp season. For real though, thats an awsome number Jeff, what kinda reinforcment is done in that vehicle and what kinda box are you using, I couldnt get the vid to load so I dont know if it was in there or not.

Ravendarat the video is also on our team page, the cardomain page listed in my post above

There is no reinforcement done to the vehicle, it is basically a stock vehicle, but it has been sound dampened thoughout most of the vehicle

kirktcashalini, The purpose of opening and closing the door is to help direct the air pressure towards the mic which is being held in place by a "Mic Monkey" the term for the sucker who has to sit with the mic recording the tone.    If the drivers side door is open it typically moves the air to the passenger side before exiting the vehicle.

OOHHH YEA Ravendarat........Bring it.....haha j/k man

Well So far I am the Captain of our team..Team Twisted Image..    It is just a very very expensive hobby, to the point where dropping $1-2000 for a system you might only use for a few months, is common.

9 out of 10 times when a window shatters it is because it has made contact with another hard surface. I.E metal or other hard surfaces.    We have made sure the rear window deck is tightly secured to keep from hitting the window, and that the window cant suck back into the metal in the car.

If you are interested in this type of thing, there are lists of shows all over the US on Soundoff.Org and Term-pro.org

These are the USACi and Db Drag Racing sites

it'd take over 160db at a high frequency to shatter a window.

I would beg to differ that...I have seen some vehicles shatter thier window with less then 160db....The lower the note the more flex you will actually get.

I will elaborate more when I am not tired just getting off work at 7am after a 14 hour shift

Hey I just thought I would ask - does high SPL like 150Db damage your vehicle in any way? I mean does it shake stuff loose?

it does much more then that.....our trunk lid is completly shot....it leaks water like mad, so all the amps need to be located close to the back seat so that dont get wet when it rains   haha

panels in the back of the car have broken the clips free many times.

as you can see in the video the rear glass could go any time, we will find out soon what it takes to break it

Its not too bad on the drivers side du to the door being open......but the guy who has to hold the mic "the mic monkey" he is on the passenger side a foot or so from the meter, I have been in that position many times, and it does hurt   haha
