Has anyone installed an aftermarket radio in one of these?   I'm not sure if it's the same as the previous models. I've looked around and can't find a kit for it either. Oh, it also has Onstar. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

The 2006 Impala is all new and nothing like the previous year model. There are no kits to replace the radio on the market to my knowledge. This car uses a different data bus circuit that most of the other GM cars/trucks do. It works on GM's LAN/CAN bus and not the normal Class II system. If you want to install an aftermarket deck, you will need to relocate the radio and still have a speaker connected to it to hear the Onstar system. If the vehicle came equipped with the factory amp option then you will have to utilize it partially as the output from the factory head unit isn't strong enough to drive a speaker by itself. You would have to run new wires to the speakers too. I don't think there is any radio mounting kits, wiring kits or plugs yet available for these cars either. You might be better off using the factory head unit and add out board amps or components to it instead to get the results you want.

Gee whiz. I may have to pass on working on this one(atleast until someone comes out with something for it). Thanks.
