Hey ya'll. I am a newb at this forum stuff, so please excuse any errors on my part. I have a 1964 impala 2-door,  and I intend to cut the rear deck, and build a box for 2-10w3v2's ported, basically instaling them in place of the rear deck. My question is have any of you heard this design before. I know I will lose the typical DB gain by having the subs mounted firing directly into the car but I hope to offset it by using a ported design. just a little worried about permantly modifying my car, for lack-luster bass.

The general rule that I usually go by is if your gut feeling initially tells you not to modify, then you probably shouldn't. There is nothing wrong at all with a complete factory look, but still get the bass you want. Me personally, I would leave it the way it is and add the bass in the trunk keeping the modifications as minimal as possible. That car is a classic man!posted_image

I have seen something similar to this before but i believe it was in an old cutlass. it was either 2 or 3 w7s. But i believe it was sealed. You might be able to find pictures of the one i saw it belonged to the owner of Davin Wheels on either the Davin Wheels Site or Car Audio and Electronics site. the install was amazing.

In my opinion, you should just put a ported box in the trunk and have it firing up through the rear deck.... or, i have seen cars with holes cut in the rear deck, just for the speakers and a port... still using the same deck... you just have to make sure your trunk and deck are airtight and rattle free

Thanks for your thoughts, guys.  I definatly have to give this some more thought!  Just trying to avoid trunk rattle, and the ugly look of sound deadeners.
