Today I bid farewell to my old system,so it's now time to upgrade my 88 Grand Ams system!
I plan on going with Alpine v12 amps for my new source of power. I was planning in using theMRV-F540 (80x4) to power JL audio ooooooo (with the 6.5's and tweets mounted in custom fiberglass kick pannels, and the 4's mounted in the stock locaion)for the front stage, and Eclipse Point Source 6x9's for the rear (left over from my last install).
For a sub amp, I want to go with the MRD-M500 (250x1 @ 4 ohm / 500x1 @2 ohms). So what do I do now? SVC or DVC sub? Single or dual 12"subs (I want to go with 12's)?
I was thinking about 2 Type R's,but Idopnt know if the M500 will be enough to power them. I also considered Coustics new Carbon Fiber subs, but the yellow on them just scares me, it does not go with my car at all, but not much yellow is visable while looking at the cone. So I don't know...What about Infinity Reference subs on this amp?
Any suggestions?
If these brands sound like ones that Circuit City carrys, your right. I'm an employee their so I'd like to take full advantage of my employee discount. lol
since you are an employee at Circuit City, I'll do my best to keep my suggestions in their product lines.
Everything so far looks good, but I don't like the Coustic subs. I have had some problems with them earlier...bad customer and technical support.
Infinity Reference line subs are good subs, but I would much rather see you go with a pair of Kappas or Perfects, but I think Circuit City stopped carrying the upper model Infinity's due to the availability.
Type R's would be a great selection, but if you are worried about the amp pushing them, maybe look into some type S's. I have seen y'all sell the type E's, but not the type S's, so I guess you'll know about that better.
good luck, and let me know if you carry the type S subs for future reference.
Thanks
