Is if possible to manipulate what impedence the amplifier sees? My problem is that I plan on using some morel drivers and they are 8ohm, naturally i'd like the amp to see 4ohm in order to get some power out of it. I'll be using an xtant 404m. Im not sure if using a resistor in parallel would work or if that would just heat the crap outa the resistor. if anyone knows please reply.

sorry for the searchless post, anyway I have thought about an impedance matching transformer with twice the windings on the speaker side making it a 1:2 ratio. This should fix my problem but low quality transformers have a tendancy to chop out some freq. maybe someone knows where to get high quality transformers??? or maybe I'll search this time:)

Vertas made a matching x-former to change Imp up or down. Don't think they sold a huge amount. Morel makes some high end Car stuff that is 4 ohms. (Elate, Ovation)
The X-formers will also eat up amp power and turn it to heat. The power gain isn't worth it.

NO, transformers NOT are a good idea. They will simply consume power and add distortion. If you want to use 8-ohm speakers, use them. The amp will be much happier. The problem comes with too LOW an impedance, not too high. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Could always wire in another pair of identical speakers in parallel if space allows, in the case if it is a mid, it might be a win win situation.
