I need to add an amp and subs to an 06 Charger OEM head unit. It's the standard head unit , not the navigation one. I'm wondering if anyone here has worked with these yet and can tell me the best way to go about this.

the remote turn on wire is a can-bus wire....so you will have to go to an ign. wire or use a sensor for turn on. use a hi to lo converter off the rear sub for your rca's

It's a 6 speaker system. There is no sub in the vehicle. It's got seperates in the front and 2 speakers in the rear deck. Will there be a sub wire on the HU that's not being used? Just trying to get a heads up on what I'm going to need before this car gets into the bay and pulled apart for surprises.

The rear speaker signal is full range. I would just tap into the rear speaker wires at the back deck and do my high level converter back there. As for remote turn on I would just tap the acc at the column and fuse the line with like a 2 amp fuse. No need to pull the deck out at all.

But if you tapped the ACC, that would mean the amp would turn on every time the ignition is on or the vehicle is being driven even if the head unit is off ....

that is correct...acc will turn on every time...or use a line sensor that will pick up the speakers and turn on the amp.

the only radio i worked on has a 6 channel system...2 fronts ..2 rears...a center...and a sub.  the rear under panel needs to be removed to expose the sub.

metra has all factory amp wire colors. i do not have the paperwork from the last one i did or i would post it.sry

hope this helps, xs
