Well i am getting out of spl and into sq. Just for personal not comp. I am looking for for a set of 3ways componet set. i have looked at jl, focal, and memphis but i didn't find a 3way for mem. I saw some prices on ebay but i don't know if i will buy them there i was just looking there to get a range of price on um. I am putting this in a 2 door honda accord 96-97 model. Was looking at subs too but i have no idea on what kind of sub and amp to go with it not worried about all matching gear just good stuff that will sound go together. I want to know about differnet types of boxes too like IsoBarik/Sealed or something i want to do one or two subs. I want it to sound good but if i have to turn it up to shut down some homo high school kid that has nothing but a rattling trunk i could, but that is not at the top of the list. Just looking for some help from people that have more knowlege than me.
Thank you for your time
Patrick

Out of curiosity, what are your reasons for going with a 3-way setup?  Focal does make a couple sets of 3-way components.

Really have no idea kinda thought they would be cool. But like i said i am new to this, i am coming from having 2 memphis mojos in the trunk with 2 mojo amps....and having a pair of 6.5's in the front door with 6x9 in the back. Really not that even. Kinda of a miss match.

3 way sets are extremely difficult to install properly in a vehicle due to the limited real estate.  They do offer some minor advantages to a 2 way set if done properly, but IMO are rarely worth the hassle.  Your best bet would be go out and start listening to different speakers and subwoofers.  Choose the one's that sound best to you.  Good luck!

Sorry to high jack this thread a little bit, although this is probally relivent to the original poster as well as my self. But if you could install a 3 way set with the 6 in the bottom corner of the door and then the 4 tweet in kick pods, would that not be the Ideal solution for that type of speaker set. I'm just asking because I am looking at doing a 3 way set myself.

i would say so. since when you get down into the lower frequencies the sound isnt as focused as it is with the higher ones. so the woofer in the factory location would ok. just get the others imaged and tuned properly for where they are going to be at. but like steve said, not really necessary and 2 ways are probably better route to go. i always stop myself from getting 3 ways because in my head i want them, but there is also the voice that says there wont be much difference.

Actually I would probably put the 6 in the kicks and the mid in the door near the tweeter.

Audio is one place where more isn't always better.  Ideally you want the full audible frequency range to come from one driver.  However this isn't possible as no one driver has the bandwidth to do this.  So we must break it down into multiple drivers.  As we start adding drivers to cover smaller bandwidths, the returns are greatly reduced per adition.  In my experiences when working at Adire Audio, I found personally that I couldn't hear a difference between the two-way set and three way set short of a direct a/b comparison.  However others with more "golden" ears were able to hear a difference.  But because of my experiences, I chose a custom two-way set for my home theater.  And I figure if the differences were so small in home audio, they definitely won't be enough in car audio to convince me to go through all the trouble of installing a three-way set.

Other question i have is... matching up speakers with sub. Most speakers i have seen are 75watts rms to 100rms, now i know i don't want to put in a mojo with 2000watts, it would just over power the others and could hear as well. For the range of the componets 75-100 watts say the focal 165 k2p. what would be a sub amp. and a good amp for the componets. Also i know nothing of tuning. Sorry for so many questions. Just want help.
