Hey all,  I think the deck is bad, but maybe I am missing something.

Have a 99 camry and had a Pioneer DEH-P4400 in it.

Just got a DEH-P6700MP.  Got a new wiring harness soldered it up and stuck it in...The Unit poweres up but no sound.  EQ shows deck is picking up sound when in both CD and Tuner modes.

Put the ond deck back in and it works....rechecked all solders and retaped to be sure no stray wires were sticking out and tried it again....Same thing. Power but no sound.

Thoughts?

Check car for shorts specifically in the rear speakers

You need to power up the factory amp.  Connect the blue wire in the aftermarket harness to the new radio's blue/white wire.  Some Toyotas have the amp below the factory radio and you can simply unplug the amp, and plug in your new stereo there, effectively bypassing the amp.  Your's should be behind the glove box.

I didn't have the blue wire connected with the 4400 and everything works fine....is there a reason it is required with this new amp?

Checked the harness in the car and there are no wires into the 2 spots where the blue wire would connect, so Guessing that is notthe issue.

Any other suggestions?

do any of the speakers pop when you turn the radio on? ive found that some stereos do that and it leads to a shorted speaker somwhere. other wise it might be the radio itself. disconnect the 4 speaker hookups and try hooking and external speaker up (if you have one laying around) a house speaker would do if its not 2ohm. if there still isnt any sound then its a bad deck.

disconnect the speaker laeds and hook up a test speaker to the wires coming from the deck... does the test speaker work? if no, you likely have a blown O/P in the HU... if it does you likely have a short in the wiring... grab a meter and meter every speaker wire for continuity to ground... if you get a reading then that wire is shorted to ground... test them all..... it's unlikely this is the problem if the 4400 works fine....

Is there a ground in the toyota harness? If not then that can be a big issue. Some older decks are able to work by grounding through the antenna where as the newer decks cant. If the old deck was grounding through the antenna only and the new one cant that would explain it. On the newer pioneer decks, if you ground through antenna only it will light up but not play audio.

Sorry, I skimmed through the part where you already had an aftermarket deck before.  I second Kgerry's advice.
