Okay, I went to install 6.5" components in the front doors of my '98 Tahoe and they fit ok, it's just that the window would hit the magnet if I put it all the way down, only by about 1/8". So I was wondering if I could just make my own spacer ring out of wood? BTW, I already tried the Metra speaker adapters and they WILL NOT accomidate a 6.5" speaker as they advertiseposted_image
Any input would be helpful! Thank You.

I don't see why not, as long as you don't make the spacer too thick so you don't have any fitment issues with the door panel.

yea, you can make your own rings. i used to do this all the time with several vehicles. another thing i have done if i was in a pinch for time is to take the trim rings that come with the speakers and cut the middle out and sand them down flush so i can use them as spacers. either way you go is okay but when you do the first side take your time and double check your door panel going back on. after you get the pattern down on the first side then the second door will be cake. hope this helps and good luck.
