I hope this is the right forum for this question. I've got a 2005 Durango with DVD. The factory provides headphones for the DVD but I didn't get them because I bought my vehicle used and they just weren't with it. I've seen that some DVD use infrared wireless Headphones and others use 900Mhz RF. I believe mine uses the RF type but I'd appreciate someone confirming or correcting this. Can I buy after market headphones for it. The factory ones are over $100 a set! Yikes! I've seen some good 900Mhz wireless sets for half that price but I'm not sure if they're compatible, although I can't see why they wouldn't be.
Most factory tv systems use IR headphones, and most all aftermarket ones will work with it. Check to see if there are a few red lights either on the bottom of the screen, or somewhere on the unit, if so then you definately have IR headphones.
Thanks doibuy, I haven't noticed any red lights, which makes me think it's an RF type. I'll check again though to be sure. I take it that these systems are pretty standard from what you say, which is nice to know since the factory replacements are so darned expensive. When I figure out which ones it uses I'll post a thread to inform others.
