Hi, my uncle has a 2000 Cadillac Deville...He wants me to install an MTX 421D amp and 10 inch Bazooka....Thing is he wants to keep the factory head unit...which sounds good to me cuz i dont have time to be fabricating a custom dash kit:)...Anyway...his MTX 421D amp has speaker level inputs and "smartengage" to turn on amp when the signal is sensed...another plus so i dont have to run a remote wire from ign and amp will run in ACC....So i was looking and his speakers where i need to get the signal from, are in the doors...that would be a huge pain to get to...is there anywhere else i can grab the speaker wires?

I also heard his speakers are individually amped...is "tapping" into them going to affect the sound quality of his rear speakers? Oh, and i do need to get the signal from both rear speakers, correct? Right and left, pos and neg? Well if there's anything im missing, i'd appreciate the help, thanx a lot.

I actually don't think you need both sets just on pair of speaker wire.

There's no need to get signal at the door speakers, just use the rear speakers for signal.  I recommend using a line out converter instead of the amp's built-in high level inputs.  Yes, tap into both left and right speakers.

the amplifier is right between the rear seats and the trunk. you can get the signal there.

Get it at the amp in the trunk then.....

If they are individually powered, then get your signal at the deck. Use appropriate line level thingy/isolation thingy, run RCA's back to amp.

Should be an amp in the trunk. GM didn't use individually amplified speakers in the Caddys after 1997 or so from what I remember.

Ahh cool, thats exactly what i was hoping to hear...thank u guys.

If i opted to use a LOC...then i'd need a remote signal to the amp...what does everyone use, just ign? that would mean when u turn the key back to ACC the amp wouldnt run, correct?

Whoops, I was thinking of the Eldorado, sorry.  Anyways, it looks like you've got the idea.  Yes, you can use ignition or accessory for turn on.  If that's one with the battery under the rear seat, you can find a pink wire in a loom there (ignition) so you don't have to run anything from the front.  You'll just have to test until you find one that will work.
