I wasn't going to post anything because it didn't really have to do with the sub, but since no one is giving you any love hehe... I had a pair of the octane R 4x6's and they sounded like garbage.  Comparable to blaupunkt or sony's cheapest lines.  So I would assume the subs are the same way.  What kinda price can you get them for, maybe I could recommend something a little better.

Well I gave 50 bucks for it off the net...I just needed a sub to play in a 1.2 cubic foot enclosure and this was the cheapest I could find....I have an Mtx 15 4500 sitting at the house that i was going to put in there but it requires a much larger enclosure...Would Polyfill make enough difference So I could still use the mtx 4500?

No, that wouldn't make up the difference you need.  You would lose a lot of low end response.  In fact, you're not going to get anything better in that box with the 15" PG sub either.  Time to build a new box.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

On Phoenix gold's website they call for a 1cubicfoot enclosure for their sealed spl box with that sub.I was just wondering if this sub will hit loud and as low as a 12 would in this enclosure...

I tried to look up an Octane 15 but cannot find any info on it.  Their web site indicates they never made such an animal.  Regardless, I highly doubt you are going to find a suitable 15" speaker for that small an enclosure.  Adapt it for a 12" (make an MDF mounting ring) or build a new enclosure.  Sorry.

OK, if you put that speaker into a 1 cuft sealed enclosure, you end up with a real nasty peaked response with fb at 70Hz and f3 at 50Hz.  This will sound like a boom box and have little to no deep bass response.  (If you don't understand terms like fb or f3, click on the "Thiele-Small" link on the left side of the forum.)  Put it into a 3cuft sealed enclosure and you end up with a much smoother response curve, fb at 46Hz and f3 at 35Hz.  3cuft is a much more common enclosure size for a 15" woofer.

I have a question then...Why would they post of on their site that the correct box size for an spl box is 1cu ft.
Im not doubting you in any way or trying to be a smart ass...I was just wondering?

They do that because the spl would be louder at say 70hz than at any other frequency in any other box. But it would sound like doodie because that frequency is so much louder than the rest. They do this for competitions because regardless of frequency it is spl that matters. But if you want something that you can actually listen to with real music you don't want that small of a box.
