92 Chevrolet pu, Control unit is in the truck but the reciever is missing,  the original is am/fm only with no eq, tape, or cd so the dash has not been cut

option 1: go to salvage yard and find reciever andhope it works

option 2: replace stereo with aftermarket and install in the dash

with opt 2 where the factory stereo sits is there an aftermarket that can fit there with a dash kit or if I remove the stereo and relocate is there a kit that will fill the hole in the dash and look somewhat like it belongs   any help would be appreciated

You can either get a "din" size reciver and use a installation kit to make it fit.  Or you can go with a "din and a half" or a "double din" with ever you have.  Its really up to you.  Brian

i have a 93 PU and would go with the install kit and put in a single "din" HU. You have a lot more single DIN  to choose from versus the din-and-a-half models. The install kit replaces the factory "hole" with a plastic pocket. And you can install a single din HU where the tape/eq is located. (directly under the AC vent in the center of the dash)

If you want a HU to be in place of the original , you have to find a specific module (din-and-a-half, or double, the maker will specify if it will fit in your truck.
