SO I have a brand new Yukon SLT, with navigation.  I used 8ga to wire up my system.  I am using a 200 watt rms amp and 2 fosgate p-1 12's....I have read other posts but everyone is talking about systems way bigger than mine.  My truck is new i would think it can handle this small system.  I have turned the gain down, but the the lights inside my truck still dim when the bass hits...ANY ADVIE WOULD BE GREAT!!!  THANKS!!

well, double check your wiring. Make sure your ground is contacting BARE metal - somehow you have to figure out how to scrape away the paint.

Does it do it while you are idling? driving? parked?
with a/c on?

it does it at idle and when i am driving...my a/c nor heater has been on...i have even tried to turn down the brightness of the interior lights...my ground is 8ga and is attached under some carpet to the body of the truck which i grinded with my dremel first???  you would agree that my factory electrical system should handle this little amp and subs, right?

yes, i agree that it should! That is a big vehicle. this system shouldnt overwhelm it. (IMO)

I'm assuming you have 8gauge + power wire as well?

Yeah, I have used 8ga wiring for the ground and the power.  My buddy has a new Denali with 1 JL w-7 10 that has a 500 watt RMS amp.....he used 4ga for power and ground.  His truck POUNDS! and no dimming lights...My system is not even half of what his is....

OKAY, so i've searched these forums, everyone who has a problem with dimming lights has a huge system, mine is sooooooo small.  I just spoke with the dealer and my alternator is rated for 110amps, which should be fine for a 200 watt rms amp.  What can I do to stop the dimming?????  The gain is all the way down and it still dims????  You can't even hear the bass really when the gain is down...

I'd test the charging system, or take it to your parts store and have them do it for free.  This will tell you where you stand, and if you need to take your truck back to the dealer for a warranty repair.

Have you hooked the 8 gauge power lead to the battery with a proper battery bolt and installed a fuse inline within 18 inches of the battery? What wire did you use to turn on the new amp? You can also clean the main battery ground for the truck. It is located above and to the right of the driver's side tow hook on the bumber. Make sure that your battery cables are clean and tight. Check to see that you have wired your subs correctly, so that your amp is seeing a load it can handle.
