Im running two amps one with a 80a fuse (1000rms) and one with a 40a (400rms) fuse, also a Alpine HU with a 10a fuse and a CVA 1005 system with about 30a total fuse. I'm looking to upgrade to a more powerful amp for my subs so I'll need even more power. I have an Optima red top battery and my alternator puts out 65amps. I've noticed some lights dimming with the car off not sure about while running. I also have slight whining sound when car is on. To try and fix this I've added two 1.0 farad caps and upgraded to 4gauge wiring, also seperated RCA from power line, also reinforced grounding wires from amps. Still getting whining noise. Is my alternater good enough? Should I run a bigger ground wire from the battery to the chassis? Any suggestions? Thanks for reading - mattsthru.

No way man, you ALT is small. You'll hear here that you need to get ride of the caps and just do a MAJOR upgrade on your ALT and ground wires and that should take care of your problem.

Do a search for "The big 3"
