Hello, after i Was totally disappointed by my Pioneer sub, after I put him in the box, i decided to get myself a new subwoofer. I want to the kicks to be short and deep, because I usually listen to techno, trance. I guess the best choice for this would be a free air sub. I've already checked the internet for some 10" subs and found the Alpine SWS-1022D. Would this one fit for free air? Of course I'm glad to hear some other possibilities, but they shouldn't be much more expensive than this Alpine sub. oh yeah, i forgot, the amplifier is an Alpine MRD-M301 Thanks!

I'm pretty fed up with sub boxes at the moment. I've heard an old free air sub recently (Kenwood HQ, 200W RMS) and it really impressed me. therefore i'd like to have a free air sub as well.

Any subwoofer can be mounted anyway you want to, but some work better in particular alignments than do others. The very low Q of so-called "free air" is appealing to some people. But my best advice is to get yourself a good SQ subwoofer and mount it in the correct enclosure. You cannot make something sound better than it is designed to sound by forcing it into the wrong enclosure alignment. Go shopping and listen to some systems at your local shops to get an idea of what you like, and then make a deal. ------------- Support the12volt.com

If you really want a free air woofer, then try an Infinity Perfect 10.1 or 10.1d. You could also put it in a sealed enclosure if you decide on that.

imo sealed enclosure will give you the bass you want, have better deep bass and they punch more.

well, it's just that i've heard several freeair subs so far and i like the sound of them connected with my music taste pretty much.
