for starting= red top.

Actually, red top for audio and starting, it releases the current much faster than the yellow top. The yellow top is a great battery for when you play your stereo with your car off tho, and is great for boats trolling motors.

The yellow top is a deep cycle, it's primary function is to provide a low amperage steady "flow" not to be used for heavy starting "loads" Like alpine guy said, a trolling motor, NOT a class D amp. There are plenty of batteries out there that will serve you much better than an optima in the world of car audio. Spend your money smart.
