multiple engine grounds?

I was trying to upgrade the "big three" when I noticed two seperate ground wires coming off the engine. One from the engine to the battery and one near the alternator to the chasis. I just went ahead and upgraded the second one. Should I also upgrade the other one that connects to the battery?
