I found this interesting, because I am one of those people that are tempted to pay a fee for better performance. Always worried about possible weaknesses... lol

https://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm

I personally believe the article. Before I read this, I was spending good money on 'high-quality' speaker wire.

Now if only I can find put if a capacitors effect on cleaning power actually helps a systems sound quality.

I don't agree with his wire length recommendations.  Try going here and play with some wire awg, lengths, and power levels: https://www.bcae1.com/wire.htm  Putting in 1000 watts through 18 awg wire run 12 feet into a 2 ohm load produced inaudible losses.  You don't need big speaker wire, period.

ok WTF... people spend 1300 on a foot of speaker wire....  who the hell can do this?

I work construction, I have worked in 3 houses that are over 15,000sq Ft.  and even these houses didnt spend that much on speaker wire.  Im talkin 10+Mil houses.  people who buy them without a mortgage.

I just cant see what makes a wire so expensive... and where the market for them is.

I dont spend alot of money on wires. I just make sure the wires are oxygen free.

Wow, that's outrageous.  I guess it just shows how gullible people can really be.

So how long do you have to suck on the wire before you know that all the oxygen is out?  I nearly passed out last week doing this till I noticed my friend kinked the wire.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

When you buy "directional cable" do the arrows show the direction in which the oxygen was sucked out?

I have found this stuff to work really well:
https://www.canare.com/index.cfm?objectid=ED6BC7F9-3048-7098-AFFBD72838C0461D.

4x16 AWG (13 AWG if you twist two together) .50 cents a foot, easy to pull, small diameter and since it's a quad cable you can hit both door speakers in a comp set with one cable. Looks much more expensive and the conductors are all ready color coded so you don't worry about lables. Just a good quality product.

Steve, you owe me $2.25 for the 20 oz Starbucks Columian Supreme I just sprayed all over my monitor! And $0.25 paper towels.

Damn that was funny!
