ahoy. im a little new at the biz, so please bear with me..
Ive installed my head unit a while ago now, and when i did i just chopped the loom head off and soldered the wires to the pioneer loom, and its all hooked up and smooth....but i have a few wires left over, i think they are orangeish...andi believe they may operate my dash clock, which dissapered at first, but then i hooked one wire up to the 12v and now i have a clock again, but the clock goes dark when i turn headlights on...so im guessing the spares would go to the dimmer maybe? if they do, what should i connect to whats?
and i couldnt find the 12v Constant, only an Accessory. so just wondering if anyone knows what my spare wires might be, and what colors my constant migh be?
its a 92 Honda Prelude, running a Pioneer DEH-P3550MP if that helps.

that is your illumination wire. I dont think you need to hook it up.
Sound right?

i guess so. i think im gonna go back over it all (just read some of the tuts in here) and do a bit of a better job. i just wanted my clock to dim along with everything else, and dont know where to connect it, ive heard you can hook it up so the face of the head unit dims along with the dash lights..
knowing my luck i would end up hooking the dimmer up the the power of the head, so when it dims the power drains from the head or something

I dont think that I used that wire and my clock still dims when the lights are turned on.

Here's the radio wiring for your vehicle: 12V B+: WHITE/ yellow Ground: black Ignition: yellow/red Illumination: RED / black Power Antenna: yellow/white LF speaker: blue/green- gray/black+ RF speaker: RED / green - BROWN / black+ LR speaker: blue / YELLOW - gray/white+ RR speaker: RED / yellow - BROWN / white+ I do recommend you verifying these wires with a multimeter just to be sure.

i will check it out when i get a dry day to work , thank you muchly.
if i may ask, where did you find the info about the wiring?
are there online sources? or do you just have an uber brain filled with wiring color knowledge?

Pictures of alarm wire locations? Factory amp location descriptions added? Factory speaker sizes? I wouldn't mind seeing an active alarm wire database that shows multiple locations (if applicable) the installers have found the wires they are looking for. For instance I know some vehicles can have multiple places to find tach wires. And to answer the previous question, I actually got the above wiring information from Directechs.
