Visonik 2618 Amp

If you have this amp i have a question...does the V symbol stay lit all the time cause mine doesnt seem to shut off, but the amp does turn off...on my other visonik amps the v symbol only turns on when the car does

you might have plugged the constant wire into where the remote should be plugged in? this way it would always seem that the car would be on. and it would stay lit.


I did this once with a rockford amp :-/

nah not possible...my 12+ is 4 gauge...the remote wire opening is 12 gauge the biggest but i have a 18gauge in there...but no i hooked it up right...i guess i might open the amp and cut the 2 l.e.d.'s out...there is a light that says power that lights up when the amp is on or off and its not lit but the leds are on...

Could be a short between the remote circuit and +B circuit. And i am assuming that you grabbed te remote wire from remote wire on an after market head unit?

i used the wire on a stock radio...its supposed to be the remote turn on...i tested it with a voltage meter...car on, wire on...car off, wire off

Ahh, the outstanding quality of Visonik rears it's ugly head yet again.

If you remove the remote wire, does the light go out? If not, does it go out if you remove or otherwise disconnect the battery cable, but leave the remote wire hooked up, and turned on?

You (more than likely) actually have a problem in the power supply, and if the amp is recently purchased, return it for one that is functioning correctly. Plug a walkman or something like that into the RCA inputs on the amplifier and MAKE SURE the amp is actually turning off when it is supposed to be turning off.

The "power lights" on amplifiers can get their power from two places:

1: The remote wire. Generally reserved for the lowest quality amps (as it is VERY cheap to implement), if the wire is on, and the amp is properly grounded, the light is on. Wire off, light off. If it remains on, then there is a short between B+ and remote. This is the only way it can remain on when the remote wire is off. If the remote is NOT diode isolated inside the amp, you will detect +12v all the time on the remote wire. Check this...

2: The actual power rails from the internal switching power supply. If this is the case, and the light is remaining on, this shows that the amp is actually on ALL THE TIME. Defective amp. Remove and replace.

ok the amp turns off cause i tested it with my friends car having the audio signal going to my amp while the power was hooked up in my car, thus turning off and on my car radio shut the amp on or off...second theres is the "V" that lights up but there is also a green led that says "power" it goes on and off with my radio on or off...so its not the remote i believe...what if i disconnect the leds...will that work...
