This is my first post, so thanks to all in advance for any help.  Anyways, I received a JVC cd player/stereo for Christmas.   I also received the harness / adaptor to plug it into my factory harness.  Anyways, everything looks quite simple, However, one thing kinda scares me.  It says that in the JVC manual not to connect it if the the speakers "negative wires" are connected together.............(I got this from the digram with the x through it), because seriouis damage could be done to the unit.  I have a 1998 Dodge ram short bed / short cab pickup, and originally had just the stock casette player in it.  I'd like to know if anyone actually knows if the negative wires are connected (between the speakers) ?  I am having a hard time actually finding a real schematic, I can just get the color codes.  Thanks in advance........Ratchet

No they arent ,just hook the wires from the new stereo up to the new harness color to color.  I wouldnt hook up the illumanation wire.(diffrent cars diffrent systems could cause trouble)  Then install the mounting kit adapter and plug the harness into the factory wires.  Thats all there is too it.  Brian

If I do not hook this up, will the unit still be lit up in the dark ?............sorry, I'm more of a go-fast engine, than an electronic guy ?
