Hay guys
i've been told the system in my car needs a capasitor 2 work properly and i might even damage 1 of my amps if i turn it up too loud. i would like to know if thats true. i have everything running on the stock car battery and alternator. the details of the system are as follows:
1 Pioneer 4 channel 'GM-X354' amp runnig at 35W x 4 at 4 ohms powering a pair of 6.5" coaxials and a pair of 6"/9" oval coaxials in the rear.
Current consumption: 18 A (at continuous power, 4 ohms)
Average current drawn: 6.6 A (4 ohms for four channels)
2 x 'Earthquake PowerHouse 2.3' amps running at 300W RMS mono powering 2 MA Audio MA100XE 10" subs.
Current consumption: Idling - 400 mA
Typical with music - 16 A
I am using the recomended fuses and wireing. Does this system need caps? If yes then how many and what rateing should they be and how do i connect them?
Any advice would be much apriciated. Thanx.
upgrade the alternator first, and posiblely the battery depending on age. capacitors are mainly for looks. Turning it up to loud shouldn't damage your amps.

No... you dont need any caps for a system that small, (or any system, really) and unless your alternator is REALLY small, you should be ok there as well... Your total system draws less than my mid-bass amp...

I estimate a total continuous draw of less than 30A or so...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
Thanxs 4 the advice guys
tht must b one mother of a mid bass amp haemphyst
Cheers chaps

Yeah, I pull about 120 Amps, like 65 average....and a cap hasn't even crossed my mind. Liek haemphyst said...bump it. Buy more speakers!!!
