2001 monte carlo sound issues

I have a 2001 monte carlo ls, I bought  the  Metra VT-GMRC-01 GM Class II Data bus Interface so i could install the head unit and maintain audible alerts, after wiring everything up I cannot get any sound, I checked and rechecked all my connections and everything is good. I don't know if there is anything that I am not doing, I am getting power to the head unit , any help on this subject would be great.

Try connecting the factory amp turn on lead to the blue/white wire on you head unit.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

I'm not sure if there was a blue/white wire on the head unit, I am positive there was one on the metra connection, and do you know where i can locate the factory amp turn on lead and what color it is? I did connect in my rear amp remote wire to this blue/white wire, i have also read some things about tapping into the 12v connection in the ignition or a fuse connection but i don't know exactly what those were about.

Please elaborate- your post is a little confusing.  You say you're not sure if there was a blue/white on the head unit, but you connected it to your rear amp remote wire?  If there was one on the metra harness, that's the amp turn on lead (sometimes it's blue and labeled power antenna).  Yes, if your deck does not have a remote output wire and the blue (power antenna) wire loses power when you switch to cd, you can connect it to the red (accessory) wire.  This means, however, that the factory amp will turn on with the key, regardless whether or not the stereo is off.
