i am wondering how to power my accessories at an indoor show. here's what i got: a 13inch tv, 12 7inch tvs, 4-15inch tv's, 2-400watt power inverters, a 1500watt power inverter for 42inch plasma tv, interior neons, exterior led's, headlight strobes, a 1200watt 4-ch amp, and maybe my subs but they are 6000 watts so ill leave it off for now. at the show the battery terminals must be disconnected. i asked some people about this and they say i need a 12 volt power supply but they dont know where to get it or how to wire it up. i live in an area where there are not many custom shops at all. is there anywhere online i can find these supplies? whats a good brand? and how big should i get? anyone know how to wire it???
Add up the wattage requirements for all your gear and then you'll need a 12 volt DC supply capable of handling everything plus at least about a 15% reserve. These are expensive. You can wire it in place of your battery. If you are using DC-AC inverters in your car, I suggest bypassing them for the show and plugging any 120VAC gear directly into the wall!

GOOD GOD, man! You are going to spend THOUSANDS on enough power for that rig!
(17) TVs with an average power requirement of around 60 watts = 1020 watts
(2) 400 watt power inverters @ 80% efficiency = 1000 watts
(1) 1500 watt power inverter (loaded with a 300 watt 42" Plasma) = 600 watts
Neons, LEDs, strobes... Possibly 200 watts total load, combined
4 Channel 1200 watt power amplifier @ WFO @ 66% efficiency = 1820 watts
My math adds up to 4640 watts. 4640 watts, at 14.4 volts equals
322 Amps!
Now, even if you need half of that on a continuous basis, that is still 161 Amps.
Here is a 100A DC power supply from eBay...
::::EDIT::::Ok, forget it... the link won't work, but the PS is 1500 bucks, and it is used, and sold as-is... a 1500 dollar risk! How much do you REALLY need it??? If you want to go look for yourself, search for +100A +DC, or query 6456B
Sure, they have 2 available there, but are you going to have 208 3ph 4 wire power in the venue? Follow the links (a couple in sequence) and you'll find the home page for the company selling those, and they rent them... Still, you need the power IN... AND you'll need 2, just to run the stuff at 1/2 throttle!!!
This raises an interesting question... Do you have enough alternator in that rig to power all that stuff when NOT tethered to an AC outlet?

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
thanks guys! so i got myself a BIG project. how well can i add to this system??? ....i have dual 325 amp alternators....
