i have a 1999 camaro with the monsoon AM-FM stereo with CD player and automatic tone control. i have bought a pair of infinity 652i 6-1/2 inch speakers. the factory speakers had two sets of wires going to each speaker, and the new speakers have only one set of terminals for the wires. the wires coming from the radio to the speakers are purple , dark green , light green and .orange. these connect to a set of wires that are two sets of red and black. will i connect the two sets of wires to each terminal or what. thank you for any help!

I have a 98 trans am with the same system. From all the people I've talked to It seems that the best solution is just to go ahead and put in a new Head unit. Monsoon systems are odd as far as wiring goes and seem to be designed for the sole purpose of complicating upgrades(they openly discourage them on their website). Replacing 1 set of speakers in a monsoon system may actually sound worse than just leaving it alone due to problems of impedence and power output from the factory unit. Best bet is to replace the whole thing.

Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most.
This one's a doozy. If you're going to replace the speakers (any of them), you need to either buy a head unit or get a 4-channel amp (or both, of course). Conversely, if u wanted to get a head unit, you'd need to upgrade all your speakers (for the same reasons shrapmetal described). Unless your factory speakers are blown or sound really bad, I'd say just stick with the monsoon system, because as I said you're gonna have to redo the entire system if you want it to sound good.
