I currently have two Kicker CVR 12's running off a Rockford P5002 amp in my 03' 2 door Blazer. It currently hits between 125 - 130 db and i want to get up to the 140 - 150 db range (or higher). how can i get there? should i add on to what i have, start from scratch, or what?

140-150...quiet a gap you have there,  kinda surprised your only hitting those numbers with a pair of kicker cvr's, but i guess it's the vehicle, In my opinion, i would upgrade the subs and give the new subs more power, if your a kicker fan, the L7's and find a good amp that you can match the rms power to the subs.  but my personal preference would be run a single digital design 3500 12" sub and you should be into the 140 range, a pair and you'll prob see mid 140's if not a little louder, all depends on the box and power you run to them, they do require a fair amount of power but i just started dealing with digital design and i heard a 3500 and i loved it.  but you'd want to feed it at least 800 rms each.

(2) Kicker L7's   12's!!!!!!do not go with the 15's for SPL trust me on this.
1 or 2 kicker kx1200's or zx1000 or 1500's

easy start for 140-150's

then design boxes and test test test. find a shop that has an accurate meter. Audiocontol SPL190 or term lab..these are true competition style meters

if you give me the area your in I could reccomend some competitors or shops to contact in your area

we currently use (2) kicker L7's and a memphis 2000d.   In a 1998 honda civic coupe (trunk car) we are metering 150-153db at shows.   our best to date is 153.1 in that car

a ported box is louder, to gain that much is stretching it just a little bit, somewhere on this site i beleive the posted a sticky on stuff like that, ...how a ported box works is the port acts as a second sound source and generally worth 3db gain. i can't remember the topic of that sticky...maybe someone else will remember, but just look around for one that deals with box's or db's

Yeah, if it was me, I'd try putting your current CVRs in an SPL ported enclosure and atleast see what those subs can do.
