I have a brand new optima red top battery that has top posts and side posts.  I'm going to be doing the big 3 today and I was wondering if it's safe to use both top posts and side posts at the same time.  I heard somewhere that the new optima batteries are good for this, is it true?

yes, there are always posts about this. Its good, I plan on doing that to mine sometime soon as well.
