I am lost... You are asking about SPL/SQ systems? Well, you cant have both. You will sacrifice one side or the other. I know of what I am speaking, I have THOUSANDS of watts in my trunk, and it'll get loud enough, but it can in NO WAY, EVER be described as an SPL system. I have also never seen an SPL system that does SQ properly. They sound OK, sure, but they could not be described as "Sound Quality".

Which is more important to you? Let us know and we'll try to help from there. I would certainly recommend against your choices above for any kind of SQ. I would also recommend against the numbers you are considering. Those will be exclusively SPL setups...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Im assuming what you mean by your post is you want to compete in SPL but do not want a one note wonder. Thats fine to do as long as you realise that you are gonna be making some sacrifice in your numbers. As for woofer choices, I have never heard the mmatts woofer your talking about so I cant say first hand how it sounds or how loud it goes. I used pioneer subs in competion before and actually did quite well, beating many people using more expensive gear. In spl the box IS A HUGE FACTOR. Its such a big deal I decided to put it i caps ;) I used 4 pioneer 12's ina  wall in my truck, just 120$ cheapies and was hitting mid 140's on an Audiocontrol meter, and the only reason why is because I took my time and designed the box properly.
