1994 Delco car radio?

Hi,    I'm new to this forum, so please bare with me if I don't ask an intelligent question.   I have a 1994 Delco AM/FM/CD/cassette radio(model 30010114) in my car, and the digital display has faded out to where I can barely see it anymore.   Everything else about the radio is working great.   If I had to guess, I would say it has gradually burned out.   I have another 1994 Delco radio that is just a plain AM/FM radio with the same digital display.   I actually took the plain AM/FM radio out at one time and replaced it with the CD version I've mentioned.   Could the radio experts out here tell me what is probably wrong with my radio and suggest a course of action to repair my CD/Cassette version?    I know my plain AM/FM Delco works great, and I was wondering if there are parts I could take out of that and put in my other one, such as the LCD screen.    I've never taken one of these radio's apart, so I'm rather intimidated by the thought of it, unless someone here can tell me it's easy if I'm careful.    Any help would be very much appreciated, as I don't want to toss out my factory radio, and it seems that taking it to a repair center will cost the price of a new one.    Thanks,   John

I would try to find another used one the same as you have, that works 100%. repairs can get very exspensive for fact. h.u. You can try these guys out though I have sent in some av units to them for repairs.  1-860-236-5443 Jo-Dis radio repair. You could also try to find a "parts recycler" and see if they have the unit your looking for. I personally won't try to repair radios so maybe somone will chime in with advice on trynig to repair, seem like a lot of work though.

many of these units just experienced a lot of cold solder connections on the synth PCB.... they have small "flow-thru" pads that halo crack.... i've usually found that removing that top PCB and resolder all the connectors and folw-thru's on both sides fixed the problem......( only to have it reoccur about 4-5 yars later)
