I'm in search of the "Holy Grail". I want to know if anyone has had success controlling a large (250gb +) 3.5" hard drive from one of the USB equipped head units. ALso, has any manufacturer had the foresight to put a REAR parallel USB port for a permanent install such as this?

Most of the info I have been able to find on these units indicates that they are either limited to flash drives or have a 500 file limit. The USB concept is a great idea, I'm just wondering if any of them can live up to their full potential.

Wow, now that would be awesome. The closet I have seen of something like this is the Omnifi setup from Fosgate. Defiantly a great idea though. That would be crazy to have 250 GB of music at the tip of your fingertips....posted_image

Have a look at Kenwood Excelon line, suppose to allow hard drive access thru media manager, but not sure of limits, email tech support for details.
