2004 Mazda Tribute.
I got a factory replacement from the dealer today and I thought I would easily pull it out from the dash.....wrong. This is the second time I've tried this.   The first time I tried it I thought maybe the manufacturer messed up but now I am having the same problems and cannot get this to budge. I have easily taken single DIN's out from mustangs. aerostarts, bronco's, and rangers but I just have to ask if there should be a certain trick or lock that I am missing. If you put the tool in, do you go past the loose area or do you go up to the more fitting area and then pull out? Im trying to stay in the looser area because that is where the spring seems to click. Its almost Sawzall time....any help appreciated.

Yes, it should "click" in place.  If you don't go far enough it won't work, same as if you go too far.
