hey guys, got a kenwood krc 807 headunit, installed professionally and only a few years old.  the buttons don't work on it - not even the reset.  i doubt all the buttons just decided to stop working but i checked a few of them and they tested good.  i checked continuity on the ribbon cable and it tests out fine.  i've checked for bad solder joints with no luck.  the transistors, diodes, and caps all test out fine.  i've changed out both ic's just because i was desperate.  any ideas?

You'll find it is the ribbon cable they sometimes test ok but the break doesn't always present itself, I had the same problem with my old 804 the ribbon is only AUD$26 from Kenwood including frieght. Its a common problem.

just to update this - I replaced the ribbon cable for $12 and it works great.  I taped one end of the new one to the old one and ran it through the rollers so I didn't have to redo it.  I checked the old one with my meter and it still checks out fine.  Don't we all LOVE IT when that happens!
