recommend a head unit

I got a kenwood kdc 232 and is fine. But, it does not have low pass/high pass filters. Is that a need option? I have the stock speakers and would like to have no bass from the inside speakers and only base to come from a sub in the back. I was looking at the pioneer 4800 and seem to have all I want except the high V for the pre outs. Not sure if it will make much differece. Thanks in advance for the help.

Look at one of the Eclipse models for 5volt 55 ohm preouts, a superior laser chassis and big time jump up in tonal response. The cd player does not have to have a built in crossover and the ones that do generally only affect the preouts. This means that if you are using the decks built in amp to drive the speakers, the built on crossover looks good but does nothing at all. You will need to add some bass blockers to the smaller factory speakers until such time that you throw a real amp on them that you can use the crossover in the amp. (which is generally better than the basic one built into a cd player).

WHat you think? I think I need more advise on the sub in this selection of mine... I do not want to go out crazy but used to have a DHD 1000w AMP with 4ch and made crossover to the inside speakers and used 2 ch for that and 2 ch went to a pioneer impp 300w rms. Used to be awesome but I sold the car... Any advice will help out... Thanks...

IMO I would avoid the 4 way 6x8's, If you can try to listen them before you buy really high pitch. I generally recomend sticking with 2 way coax's. If your looking at equipment within a price range of 150 then the pioneer is what you want, not real sure on eclipse pricing,.

Sub wise the ts-w306c is the way to go if your only going to get 1 sub, with running off that 7200m.  If you could get this would be a better choice ts-306dvc with 4 ohm voice coils, you can then wire it down to a 2 ohm load 360x1. Make sure you get a box that matchs the spekers requirements.

so, if i get the 2 ohm load will run better and louder? I will get that one... So then I will bridge the amp to 2 ohm, but will the sub take the power? ALso I notice that some subs have the 89 or 91 db. Should I get one that was better response so it will be more efficent and louder? I mean will be loud since I will put it in my focus hatchback anyways...

Your part numbers are a little off on the sub ts-w306dvc, this is a dual voice coil sub and it will handle the power, its rated at 400 watts rms the amp is rated to produce 360x1 @ 2ohms.  I think you'll be happy, if you need more bass when your done that amp will run 2 of those 12's seen it done it.

Again, to dive further into the Pioneer head issue, they have a known problem with poor circuit design on the ground plane. This manifests itself as noise in a amplied system. If you are going to be adding a 4channel amp into the mix again at a later date, consider the other cd players that are out there.
