I finally gots a job while going to school that pays a little more than minimum wage... WOHOO!
Ok so I am going to bump my budget up on the components I am about to get. Here is a list of what I am considering all will be 6.5's
Alpine type X
JL xr650-csi
Mb Quart pce216
Diamond S661
CDT Classic CL-61E
FOCAL 165V1 POLYGLASS
and that is really all that I consider in my price range.
I listen to some rap, some trance, some oldies, and whatever else hit my mood right.
I have no where I can audition ANY of these speakers. That is kinda my problem. I am judging just by some reviews by other people. but based on people who mostly listen to rap or "techno" what would you guys choose? I also listen to music really loud at times (mostly on highway, i hate wind noise) so they need to be able to keep up with two 15's if possible.

I sell the Alpines and the JLs, I've installed the MBs and the Focals. For loud and SQ I tend to like the JLs best. But if you want to save a little more money the JL ZRs are my favorite speaker set out there.

I couldn't find a price on those, about what do they run? I kinda wanna stay in my price range here so I can get a couple sets and compare.

My vote is for the Focal's. ------------- Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

The CDTs are good bang for the buck and I especially like the silk tweeter model. But none of these will easily "keep up with two 15s" unless you provide the power and damping that is necessary. Take your time on the build and preparation, and that can be taking place right now as you consider some different brands. You'll put plenty of money in the preparation part of it, so you might want to start looking for a part-time job too!
------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

What are you powering these speakers with?
------------- That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

well i am making 13.75 an hour (don't have a family to support) and doin hella overtime, so I can afford them and the proper preperation. they will be powered by an Mb Quart RAA2400 giving 200x2 at 4ohms. And I know how to set my gains so if I need to set them to where it doesn't blow the components by overpowering them I can. Plus I always like to shoot a little high on power. So I have the power covered, my door skins are fully damped and I am in the process of finishing my fg door panels. I am going to hose down the back of the fiberglass door panels with spray on deadener to help deaden them even more. So i have all that worked out pretty well. Based on a perfect environment lets say if all you had a choice then which set of components would you choose. Also, would you guys consider infinity kappa perfects comparable to the above listed components? They are in the same price range I am lookin at so just wondering.

Kind of no help here but you should get some pics up of that door panel if you can. I am probably going that route and like to see other peoples work to give me ideas. Good luck
