Dear all, foolish newbie here who spent $300A on a new Clarion HU just to get an AUX input to run his ipod off. after learning everything and installing my HU on my own for the very first time, I find that the sound from my iPod into the AUX is absolutely C.R.A.P! Am going to re-install my ancient Clarion ARX3371 and go back to using my old tape adapter to play my MP3's.. the quality was better than the AUX! Has anyone else had experience with good/bad results playing MP3's thru an AUX?

The new Sony range has an Aux input on the face plate.

Yeah, saw that, also some of the cheaper JVC models have that too.. but regardless of point of insert, are these other AUX inputs going to give me any better sound?

the newer Pioneer Premiers also have an AUX input, mine is in transit, i can let you know how it sounds hopefully on sunday,

It however is a 2.5mm jack as opposed to a 3.5mm

you will have to buy an adapter and then get/make a 3.5mm Male to Male cable, which i did by just chopping 2 extension cables and soldering them together.

Good news, I used to have a 2.5 plug on my IPAQ but found the jack to be less robust.. poor connections after awhile. Have bought a line-out adaptor for Ipod today, will test and see if it makes a difference.. keen to hear what others think of the AUX sound quality
